14 year old Miguel Devante, an orphan, was taken hostage by the Floronic Man but is saved by a hero named Vulcan who tells Miguel to free the other prisoners whilst he battles Floronic Man. Whilst the other prisoners escape Miguel stays behind to back-up Vulcan. He actually grabs hold of Vulcan’s sword and cuts off Floronic Man’s arm allowing the two of them to escape.
Vulcan chooses Miguel to be his successor whilst he acts as his mentor. This did not last long, however, as Vulcan is killed shortly after and Miguel has to assume the role of Vulcan with very little experience. However Vulcan’s sidekick, Pandora, agrees to stay with Miguel to help him learn and understand his newfound abilities.
Eventually after defeating Vulcan’s enemies Miguel and Pandora travel to San Fransisco where he stands in front of the Titans Tower talking to Beast Boy who has never heard of the hero “Vulcan” before to which Miguel replies “I’m going to get that a lot aren’t I?”.
